Ingredients and utensils
Oats 1 tablespoon.
Water 7.2 oz.
Olive Oil 23 oz.
Caustic Soda 2.87 oz.
Cocoa Butter 0.33 oz.
Optional: a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
Preparation
1) First, we must prepare an infusion of oats, heat the water with the oats on the stove in a small pot. Remove it from the heat when it boils and let it cool down. Then strain the mixture to obtain the infusion and pour it into a plastic container.
2) Add caustic soda to the container with the oat infusion and let it cool for an hour. It is essential to do this little by little and always stir the mixture in the same direction. Soda is a hazardous and toxic substance, so we recommend doing it in a ventilated place and protecting ourselves with a mask and gloves.
3) While the mixture cools down, take a container and mix virgin olive oil with cocoa butter. To speed up the process, you can put the container in the microwave to heat the mixture.
4) When the mixture of the oat infusion and the soda has cooled down, slowly add the olive oil and the cocoa butter. Always stir the mixture in the same direction until it thickens. Leave it to stand for about 15 minutes and stir it again.
5) To make the oatmeal soap smell more pleasant, add ten drops of essential oil to the mixture and stir again until you obtain a homogeneous solution.
6) Finally, pour the mixture obtained in a wide and low container, serve as a mold, and let the mixture stand for 15 days, it will be enough time to harden and cut the pieces of soap.
